I disassembled my beat-up wicker laundry basket and put it in the yard waste bin. Yes, I'm that anal. I'm a little surprised my boy wasn't that into it. (He didn't want to do it outside as I asked because he's afraid of criminals. Le sigh.) Excuse: I got a replacement basket at IKEA yesterday, along with mandatory pickled herring.

After some judicious application of my angle grinder, I replaced a bicycle crank cotter with a piece of metal left over from the gizmo project. I'm told that the real part in question hasn't been available since the '80s. It might not look as elegant as it would have if

gfish or

randomdreams had done it, but it works beautifully for now, and I have more metal to replace it with.

Nibs has finally broken the news to a friend of hers, whom I'll be seeing later this afternoon with her kid. She's also a former co-worker of mine, so this'll be a few kinds of weird, but it's past time Nibs talked to somebody about this who wasn't paid to listen.

Nun plan: party at the Compound, those Burners who threw that fabulous Halloween party. Maybe Merc, but avoiding smoke & cash outlay is a good idea right now.
