frustration & tights, smiles on the beach, tears behind sunglasses

Bah: Getting a wild hair, going to Display & Costume, and discovering that they don't have, well, anything I need for my next Halloween costume.

Yay: Finding tights in my size there that I wasn't even looking for, including replacements for some that I've (ahem) outgrown.

Yay: Walking the length of Golden Gardens in the sun. Time to grin like a fool and resist the urge to pet each of the dozens of dogs.

Bah: Going to Sunset Hill Park, which is on the bluff overlooking Golden Gardens. It boasts an amazing view of Puget Sound and the Olympics. Back when Nibs & I were engaged and newly married, we only lived a few blocks away and we'd walk over there pretty often. She was probably the one who took a picture of me in profile one day, as I contentedly watched the sunset. As I stood in the same spot today I cried.

Even though I'm so much happier now, and even though so much of what we had back then was built on sand, I still miss parts of it. I didn't see that coming. I guess I'm still getting used to this being a girl business.

It hurts, but at the same time, it's good that you can appreciate the good times. Even if they are a bit melancholy now, hopefully the future will bring peace and you can look back on them contentedly - as opposed to getting stuck in the bad memories.
