sistawendy: me in my Suffragette costume going "Eek!" (eek)
I was looking at my benefits web page for an unrelated reason when I saw the claim for my surgery: $59,715.57. I'm walking around, a bit painfully still, with the equivalent of a Mercedes between my legs. I believe that figure includes everything but hotel & air fare.

Wow! A lot of money, but rather a LOT LESS than I expected. If I'd had to guess the number would have been six figures. Perhaps it's not as wildly out of reach of some people without benefits like yours, but some resources.

Not to undervalue it -- having your life the way it ought to be? Priceless!

I felt that way when I saw the medical expenses for my arm surgery. Thank heavens for MS insurance.

Five surgeries and a year's worth of chemo? Just over $1m. In 1985, when $1m was real money.

Jesus. Does that mean you now have super powers, or that you're contractually obligated to acquire them and use them for good?

How much it costs, and how much it's *worth* are entirely different things. I'd say that's a bargain for something priceless.

(My leg hardware cost "about the same as a small mercedes" according to my surgeon. Between us, we could start a fleet!)

Don't _all_ women have the equivalent of a Mercedes between their legs? ;-)

Heh, I wonder what 11,000 pounds sterling in summer of 1978 inflates to, nowadays....

Holy shiitake mushrooms! That's a wad of dough! Bet it doesn't include the anesthesiologist.

Oh, it's definitely worth that price to me. Fear not.

I asked Dr. Bowers about that. It does.

Vroom vroom! :)

I just spewed water all over my car. Here I am, a poor unsuspecting reader of the El Jay, and I see the dollar figure and I almost choke. But that wasn't what got me. It was the mental image of a small Mercedes hood ornament for a clit. Your fault? No, but I'm blaming you anyway. :)

Now that you've said it on the Internet, it'll happen someday.

With all these trashy snooki-twits running about, I'm sure I can get my engineer to design clitclips in several designs in rhinestones. And a vajayjay tiara. I might be on to something here...

I spent around $3,000 out of pocket for my Lasik eye surgery. It was worth **every** penny to be able to see without blindness if something that was plastic and glass was taken away from me.

I can't imagine what it would be like if my life didn't feel normal every day before surgery.

You are an inspiration my dear.
