sistawendy: me in my nun costume looking stern (stern nun)
There are two things I do every time I go to Burning Man:
  1. I decaffeinate because coffee is far away and is one of the two things that cost money. Yes, either that or the altitude change gives me a persistent headache on Monday, but it goes away.
  2. I ride my bike like a fiend, because it's by far the most convenient way to get around.
When I got back, I realized two more things:
  1. I'd lost a few pounds that were not, apparently, all water.
  2. I felt really good physically if not mentally.
Therefore I'm conducting an experiment: no more morning caffeine - I still have tea after lunch, though - and instead of doing all yoga all the time for exercise, alternating yoga with a couple of laps around Green Lake on Goldiebike.

So far so good. I sleep the sleep of the just. My six-hour marathon zappy sessions seem to have gotten easier. We'll see whether this has any impact on the quest for Ms. Right.

Why didn't I notice the above after previous Burns? In '07 I was a bike commuter much of the time, and in '11 I was walking or biking to work and going to yoga class weekly.

ISTR that the current job and housing don't lend themselves to bike commuting?

I could probably do it, but I'd have to get cleaned up at work. There's a shower there, but I don't want to bring my toiletries & makeup. It's hard to commute by bike when you're a girly girl.

That's fair. Phoo, coz man what a good way to integrate it into a daily routine.
