Ms.
ionan texted me during zappy yesterday inquiring about dinner plans, and at length we arrived at The Teachers Lounge because I said I wanted something light after lying down all day. It's a small place, and weirdly easy to miss from the street despite being at N 85th & Greenwood. With decor taken from schools & school buses, somebody clearly has put a lot of love into it. The cocktails are mainly herb-y, and often use obscure booze worthy of Portlandia, which our knowledgeable server patiently explained. (Was that a fanatical gleam I saw in his eye?) The menu is a foodie take on school lunches and is, as promised, fairly light. Priced to match, natch.
Yeah, I'll probably go there again because the food & drinks are quite good, and I have a soft spot for original kitsch, but I may hate myself for it afterward.
