I can has Burning Man ticket! It was a bit more of an adventure than I expected. It only took 20 minutes to get through the queue, as compared to about 15 last year and six hours (!) in 2011. However, once I got through the queue, the ticketing contractor, Ticketfly, asked me for a password that I didn't know. So, I reset it. No biggie.
I get ready to pay (Mind if I switch tenses?), and discover that I've left my Master Card in the little wallet I took to the Bang. The only other credit card I have on me is Discover, which they don't take. So, debit. Check bank balance to make sure I can cover it. Bank demands email confirmation for login, probably because I'm (ahem) not at home. Luckily, I get in and discover that I can cover it. Pay. Eat a tofu wrap & Clif bar while waiting a further 88 minutes for my confirmation email to arrive after Ticketfly says it will.
As it happens, Aspiring Ex isn't crazy with my charging stuff like Burning Man tickets on our still-joint credit card accounts. Score a few unplanned brownie points for me.
Bonus: I managed to snarf a vehicle permit. I'll feel a tiny bit guilty using it on my Sanctimobile, which would have difficulty carrying two people plus all their gear and so probably won't, but only a tiny bit.
I am in like Flynn and on like TRON, people. Hot Pink is metaphorically on her way to the playa!

Date: 2014-02-27 04:01 pm (UTC)From:I found out about theme camps based in Seattle from fund-raiser announcements on a techno events bulletin board. It takes cash to do art projects & theme camps, and they way Burners get it is by throwing parties.
One of the ten principles of Burning Man is "No spectators, only participants." This has become more of an ideal than a reality, sadly, but if you do camp with a theme camp - which I highly recommend for your first time because they have infrastructure and usually know how to camp in the desert - you'll be expected to pitch in with whatever it is they do.
