When you're coming down with something, do you ever get a sensation that seems, for lack of a better description, as if you're smelling the inside of your own nose? Or maybe some secretion in there that isn't there ordinarily? It's subtle, but also sharp and meaty at the same time.

I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with something because I have a swollen lymph node in my neck, a sore throat, a sore back, and the occasional mild dizzy spell. I wonder if The Tickler brought me something back from the Middle East besides a psychedelic pashmina (which, by the way, I love).

I have that pretty often, not just when I'm getting sick. However, I suspect what's going on is you're smelling reactive oxygen species and smashed-up bacteria from lysed macrophages that went to your nose to die.

Something is definitely going around locally... Mae is sick at the moment, and I'm hoping not to get it (at least not until after ninja camp, I hope I hope). Sorry that you're feeling poorly, though hooray for the psychedelic pashmina.

It's always seemed to me like the smell was coming from my sinus, and it's not pleasant. Not always the same smell, mind you, but never good.

I get that, too. And the burny at the back of the throat.

I get that feeling, totally. Like my breath is too hot and it makes everything taste weird and infected.
