adventures in interior decorating
May. 29th, 2002 09:17 amI went to
kathrynt's house to look at fabric samples and I must say, when they bought the house it was the most amazing museum of 70's tacky, kinky, somewhat geeky funk. They showed me the pictures. I'm not sure I would have had the heart to rip it all out. Yes, I saw the weight-bearing hooks in the ceiling, the red jacuzzi, and the cedar-paneled master bathroom, but what I could no longer see was the moonscape mural on the master bedroom wall, the metal fireplace next to it, the color schemes (one room each in red, orange, yellow, green, and blue), the red carpeting all the way to the edge of the jacuzzi and the toilet, and the red bulbs in the lamps. I'm glad they took pictures because all that needs to be preserved for posterity. It was clearly a labor of love for the perpetrator. I can just imagine some deranged future owner wanting to restore it meticulously to its former glory. And to think all this was tucked away up in Bothell, and not some freaky 'hood in San Francisco.
By the way, the fabric was cool too, and the price was right. I ordered some.
