sistawendy: a butterfly in the style of a street sign (butterfly)
Everybody reading this knows I'm a trans lesbian, right? Good! Thank you for paying attention.

I spent a bit of time this National Coming Out Day friending old school chums on That Other Social Networking Site. I wonder if any of them noticed I never friended them under my old name. I never even had an account under that name.

One of them recently separated from her hubby and has an ex-husband who changed sex. I can beat that, but not by much.

I'm almost out of people I care about to come out to.

Much has been written about the true meaning of NCOD, but to me and maybe others living in greater-than-average-even-by-queer-standards danger, it boils down to this: We are not afraid. That means that whether they know it yet or not, the haters have lost their power over us.

And speaking of coming out, my trans tag goes public tomorrow night.
And on a sad note, I've learned that there will be no more Science Center parties. Too many idiot vandals & druggies.

But first: my booblets are now large enough that I can feel them if I walk fast. Running is now owie. This plays a part below.

After a hiatus enforced for two years by venue management, the raver kids and techno heads again took over the Pacific Science Center. I must confess I loved just talking to random people and soaking up the - I promised myself I'd never use this word in this sense, darn it - energy.

Musically, it was fun but not terribly adventurous. Usual suspect Love Virus was there with the house, and Future Nurses rocked the trance ghetto. Pleasant surprise: Hendrik, who's one of the guys who runs the Church of Bass, was in the chill area. I can't believe I'd never heard him before.

A certain promoter whose shows I'm not that crazy about ([livejournal.com profile] xaotica, you know who I mean) tries to get me to go to his shows again every time he sees me. To make matters worse this time, he insisted on giving me big, sweaty hugs. I finally said, "I have new boobs. They're a little tender." He let go. Who knew that would ever come in handy?

I saw co-worker B! I'd seen B at Artopia, so I had reason to believe he's cool. I went up and said yeau. That's the first time outside Halloween anyone in my group has seen me en femme. Turns out he was helping the Space Virgins out at the bar; he's planning on camping with them as I did. He'd never been to a PSC party before, so I had fun initiating him. And it turns out that B is the guy who burst into my office on St. Patrick's day dressed entirely in green and danced a jig! I couldn't identify him at the time because he had his face covered in green spandex, too. You don't know that, by the way.

Eye candy? Maybe not as varied as Norwescon, but still pretty good. The party got quite busy quite quickly. Please, please let us in there again.

ETA: Saw Yvette Soler, who's the person in charge of the PSC parties. She thanked me for the "pep talk" I gave her in Barcelona. Awww!

If you have to have a twin, you could do far, far worse than [livejournal.com profile] thevfrchick. I was delighted to have somebody to burble at as we wandered the Pacific Science Center.

I'll admit to being a trance cracker and spending a lot of time with local DJ & producer Osiris Indriya. He consistently puts on a good show; his set was more distinctive and had better flow than the national guy Jaia. It didn't hurt that all the art & the best outfits were in the trance room, either.

Biggest & best surprise: the little dinosaur room that I thought was going to have all the downtempo & experimental sounds -- it did last time -- was instead packed with solid, techie groove by Nordic Soul & Christina Childs. Damn, I've got to make it to Krakt, Childs's night the second Saturday of the month at Re-bar.

Nationally known house man Rithma was... good, but not good enough to make a squeeing fangirl out of me. Honorable mention: Gabriel Alexander.

Checked out the new breakbeat room, but its headliner Naha came on right at my scram time. Breaks continue not to be my thing.

My recent (ahem) silicone acquisitions stayed in place nicely even with all that moving around. Happiness.

Four hours of dancing & walking around after pruning an apple tree and running. Yeah, I think that's enough exercise for the weekend.

Remember back in February when I gushed even more than usual about a big ravey thing called Kinetic? Well, all of the same people are doing the same thing only bigger on November 11th in the same place, the Pacific Science Center. If you're at all interested in any kind of techno -- they'll have four stages -- or if you're the least bit curious, you need to go to this. With me. The people who organize these bring good music and a wonderful vibe to what has to be the best venue in town. As Bob is my witness it'll be worth the money. Ladies and gentlemen, Magnetic II. I'll be getting an extended curfew.

The Pacific Science Center kicks a lot of butt as a venue for a party, especially one of the techno variety: enough room, high ceilings, and giant animatronic arthropods. I wonder if the real bugs were bothered by the (pretty nice) sound system. The music was about 85% good, good enough for sore feet, but I had to miss Farina. Le cry. I'd even brought a copy of one of his albums to sign. Damn that 1:30 curfew. Yeah, I hear some of you parents saying I should be grateful that I get out at all, but missing headliners three times this summer has made me crazy.

Things seen at PSC )

Someday I will succeed in getting at least one of you to come with me. Oh yes. I shall.

Oh yeah: I'll grudgingly admit that the 1:30 curfew is a good thing if you want to take little boys to Mercer Island to get buzzed by loud, sexy planes.
