Ramiro Gutierrez, one of guys behind Uniting Souls who put together the show at Chop Suey, tells me he's from New Orleans and his family is still there, which is one reason why the show was a Katrina benefit. He was too distracted to promote it as well as he should have, he said. I hope he did well anyway, not least because the tunes were groovy.
Contrast Ramiro's friendliness with a good-looking girl with dirty blond hair. I'm dancing away, and I happen to see her making a grimace of disgust that vanishes as soon as I make eye contact. I can't hear what she's saying. I dance my ground. Bite me, blondie. I like to think it isn't a coincidence that Ramiro's somebody and you're not.

Would any of you be a little apprehensive about a women's bathroom whose door is propped open and whose stall doors all don't latch? Speaking of the jane, if you're going to knot your corset lace, do it in the one at the Merc as I did.
