I thought I had wheels out of round (Foreshadowing!) so just as the madness was starting in DC yesterday I rode down to my local bike shop. It turns out that when I replaced my front tube a month ago, I didn't seat the tire correctly. I've done that before where the tire was too high on the rim so the tube poked out and popped, but never too low until this time.
The fix? Partially deflate, apply soapy water to the tire so it's nice and slippy, reseat the tire, reinflate.
Oh, and I let them talk me into replacing my chain & cassette later this month. The shifting has gotten kind of ornery, and I've put at least 3000 miles on FM Bike since I bought her in September of '18, maybe closer to 4000.
