After a day or so of freaking out, I got my UK passenger locator form entered, just seconds before I had to show the downloaded receipt to a gate agent. Thanks to that other agent who gave me a magic QR code that bought me time to do that.

It seems I misunderstood the web form the first several times I saw it. I ended up weeks ago at some site linked from a UK government email that was supposed to send me that magic receipt, but hasn’t yet. I think I paid $100 for something I didn’t need. Bottom line: everything you need is at the UK border control site.

Now I’m chilling at the gate, having grinned like a fool after I got through security. I had not yet noticed that my glasses had fallen off during security theater. What tipped me off was a sudden inability to read menus on the wall at the food court. Luckily, a nice TSA man found my glasses for me, which is why I can type this.
