1) I'm driving around lost in L.A., but it looks more like San Francisco. I come to a T at which I see the most amazing house I've ever seen: the top story looks like Neuschwanstein Castle with faux-Moorish turrets, the middle story looks like a cross between a 30's streamlined toaster and a pink 50's Cadillac, and the bottom story is, if I recall, cubist. As I turn onto the cross steet I think, 'Cool! I want one of those!'
2) I'm house hunting. I enter a run-down old house apparently owned by hippies. The front door came from and old bus and has a lever to open and close it. I wonder how they lock it. As I enter the living room there's shag carpet, macrame on the walls, the whole bit, but the most amazing things are the front windows: two soldered glass ovals set high with a narrow oblongish window lower down. I realize that from outside the house the windows would look like a face. I think, 'This house has potential.'
