What I'm writing about is that our sitter, the much-loved Natasha who recently graduated from WSU, had never heard of Sen. Joe McCarthy, whose hearings are the backdrop for the movie. Jitt! Urngh! AAGH!

And a lot of people forget all that stuff the day after they write the test. Clooney mentioned in some interview, a week or so after it premiered, that they were running it by some test audiences in LA and half of the people didn't know who McCarthy was. Of course, these are volunteer movie-watchers in LA, but he was (as I was) pretty seriously shocked.
Some of the point of the movie was just to remind/show people that, by the way, there was this McCarthy guy.
