sistawendy: me looking confident in a black '50s retro dress (mad woman)
I needed my hair done, which I usually do in Wallingford. I meant to kill time with a flu shot, but the drug store in question insisted on an appointment, so what to do? Gelato at Fainting Goat and used records at Fat Cat, one of which I'm listening to right now. Aw, yeah. It was a perfect day for it, too.

After hair, I swanned on down to Doghouse Leather to replace the mask that I use for sleeping. No, really, I do. I mean, black leather with a wide elastic band is pretty much the gold standard for blocking light and staying in place. There's some other merchandise that I have my eye on, and I discussed it with a member of the staff, who was taking a vape break on the sidewalk in a puppy hood & tail. Oh Seattle, I still love you.

Edited to add: I stopped in at the Wildrose to get a beer and chat with Martha the blonde bartender-and-owner. Around the corner I learned that Cafe Racer is now open! I have to see a show there. I chatted with the door person, and they said that a) they're getting foot traffic from curious passers-by, which surely never happened at their old location in Ravenna, and b) Thursdays are for artists who haven't done shows elsewhere, which Seattle sorely needs these days.

I was a little saddened to notice that the Northwest Film Forum, which used to be very visible across the street from where Cafe Racer is now, wasn't so much and had been replaced with a sporting goods store. But almighty Google says they're still in the same spot; maybe I missed a door. They have events scheduled for this week. It's good to know they're still around. Or maybe I'm losing my mind: I can find photos from last month that show it roughly where I thought it was.

On the way home I missed the tube as I tried to transfer from a train to a bus at the University of Washington. You see, there was a football game going on, which meant that they'd rerouted the crosstown routes that go to the UW. Metro put that info on their web site, which I found after much waiting, but not at the actual UW stops. And then of course the E line that I love to hate was late and packed at 2200.

Shallow fashion details: black knit short sleeve V-neck gotten at a Goth yard sale ages ago; metallic & black floral textured skirt from Kambriel via [personal profile] cupcake_goth; wide black belt with rose buckle from Fluevog; and Irregular Choice Blooming Fabulous boots, which miraculously match that skirt.

One thing I've been doing since I got back from London is give people (who don't read my Dreamwidth) vacation slide shows over video. One such last week was with Taller Woman, who renewed her promise, which I'd almost forgotten, to have me come out to her large, secluded, and decadent housesitting digs in the exurbs for a ladies' weekend.

Be still my beating heart! I'll have to make sure I have... stuff to bring. And I will be wearing something cute but comfy.
