family, the blessing and the curse

Good Sister called at about 1700 Pacific yesterday. She's in Florida right now, enjoying her visit with Mom about as much as I did in May & June, which is to say not much.

Good: GS is getting rid of as much old paper as she can find on Mom's desk so she won't think she needs to do taxes or other financial transactions. That only makes trouble, especially for Good Sister.

Bad: All Mom wants to do with Good Sister is argue & fight. She doesn't want to go anywhere or do anything.

Worse: GS has given up on trying to keep Mom from drinking as much cheap, nasty wine as she wants.

I remember one part verbatim, though.
Me: If you end up fucking off to the beach, or hurting Mom's feelings...
GS: I'm forgiven?
Me: Yeah.
GS: [dark nyuks]

The Wendling was with me, and he started giving me dirty looks twenty minutes into the call because I was supposed to be fetching dinner right around that time. I was indignant for a second, but then I remembered that he's never known what it's like to talk to a sibling, and he never will. I cherish it.
