sistawendy: my late black Lab Katie lying on a half landing looking pleadingly into the camera (puppy love me)
My Puppigrrl was so eager to get into her bath the other day that I hadn't even opened the shower door or collected the towels for her yet. I suspect that she's trying to avoid being picked up because it hurts her arthritic joints. Either that or she's finally given up trying to escape baths and has seen the wisdom of getting them over with. One thing she hasn't given up, though, is chasing wild rabbits when let off leash in a local park. Fear not, rabbit fans: the bunny in question got lost in some bushes just in time.

I do believe commuting by bike is getting easier. It's also having the desired effect on my weight after only eight rides home. I'm still a little dizzy from biking home an hour ago.

Wrist corsets for )'( are done. I couldn't scare up shoe lace by the yard here on the east side (at least not at a shoe repair place within biking range), but I had something on hand that's hilariously appropriate: hemp twine.

I'm at home for mundane reasons, but I'm not woikin' because I forgot to copy the files I need to edit to a machine that I can actually talk to over the VPN. Y'know, nearly two months after the office move, I shouldn't be having problems like this. I feel somewhat justified in playing hooky for two hours.

Prob. too late for this project, but an fyi for the future -- Farthingales sells shrink tip tubing by the foot. It's the most awesome stuff for making your own corset laces with shoelace-style tips. It's plastic tubing that you cut into a short piece, slip over a cord or ribbon end, heat over a match or candle, & it shrinks down & when it cools, it becomes a hard tip like on a shoelace. I bought one foot of this ages ago & I'm still using it (you don't need much for one set of laces). It's the perfect way to get pretty ribbon corset laces!

Also, the Farthingales LA shop is awesome -- I've ordered from them twice, great service, super fast, just as good as the original Canadian one, but closer & in USD.

Cool! I've never had a solution for lace tips, and metal aglet crimpers are spendy.
