At Chop Suey last night, Truckasaurus (from Portland?) made happy & bleepy music to breakdance to. I approve. I liked them the last time I saw them. San Francisco's Hookers & Blow was pretty far up tempo and not bad, but not as good as I was led to expect. Honorable mention to local boy Adlib.
I apparently saw the police hassle Chop Suey into turning on some lights in the back room. Then the staff got a ladder and unscrewed a few bulbs. Then they screwed at least one back in. I asked Adlib about it and he blamed Mayor Nickels, not the cops. Not many people in Seattle will be sorry to see him go, it seems.
At some point, the spirit of the Caribbean seemed to take over Chop Suey, so I walked over to 11th to hear - but not pay for - what was going on at Neumo's & Sole Repair. On the sidewalk in front of Sole Repair, which had its big front windows open, several of us were rewarded with David Aju (pronunciation unknown) and later Codebase.
There's a free party in Volunteer Park this afternoon that's part of Decibel. I'm taking m'boy unless Nibs says he hasn't behaved well enough.
