sistawendy: me in my nun costume with my duster cross, looking hopeful (hopeful nun)
I seem to be getting used to the hormones & anti-hormones. I no longer feel the urge to guzzle soy sauce at every opportunity.

Something's happened to my appetite: I no longer get the munchies after dinner. Instead, I get them during the day. Explain that if you dare.

Boobs? Growing right along. In fact, I'm a little worried that only the tightest of my sports bras is doing an adequate job of hiding the girls.

I've mentioned that my butt's gotten bigger, haven't I? I'm one of the few women on the planet who's pleased with that, mostly. Why just mostly? The Bar Mitzvah is in five weeks. I checked, and I still just barely fit into the suit I planned to wear. Whew!

I've been watching my arms for signs of less hair, but so far I don't see a difference. (And you thought I wore long gloves so much just 'cause they look cool.)

I've known women who have MUCH hairier arms than I. But you know. Asian.

I know one or two garden-variety women with hairier arms than mine, but they're Ukranian or Armenian, not WASP like your humble nun here.

If you can manage to get your arms waxed (or sugared - way better, IMO!) then that should help a bunch. I get mine done just a few times a year, and it grows back finer, plus no stubble to deal with...

Heh. Well, I kind of need the hair for another eight months or so, but if it's still there in december, sugar it is!

Seconding @leenerella's comment. While I can only second-guess how genetics, hormones, and follicles will play out for you, your arm hair may in fact be getting lighter, but you can't see it right now.

One thing I did was to invest in a hair trimmer that I could use to shorten my armhair, which would let you keep your arm hair but gradually trim away the darker and coarser parts of the hair. What grows in its place is often less dark and coarse. And since there was enough hair grown out, it didn't feel stubbly. But YMMV--I never had heavy body hair.

I do believe you should start considering a backup plan for the Bar Mitzvah outfit. If you are *barely* getting into that suit *now*, with 5 weeks to go, that's a lot of time for changes.

I wish my ass would get bigger. *sigh* It is far too small for my liking (as in, painful to sit on anything remotely hard).

Wow. You are either on one staggeringly high dose of hormones, or the specific combination is much better-engineered than it used to be. Congratulations, I think.

p.s. do you think those pants make your butt look fat? get used to it.... ^_^

200 mg oral spironolactone b.i.d., 1 ml IM estradiol valerate every 2 weeks. Pretty standard for these days. I had low testosterone levels to start with, says doc, so.

What's the concentration of the estradiol? Is it 20 mg/ml or 40 mg/ml?

If it's 20, then our dosage is equivalent. And we're taking the same amount of spiro, it seems. I am planning on asking my endo to let me take a progestin or even progesterone if that's feasible.

20 mg/ml.

I started wearing gloves because my hands were always chewed up from wire-wrapping, plus being a klutz and always banging a knuckle somewhere. They hide all manner of ills.

My dear, as lovely and as stylish as you always are, it's hard to imagine ills. But I'm starting to wear more gloves, if only because it makes certain kinds of jewelry more comfortable. Plus, accessorized right, gloves rock. \m/

Oh, I'm a huge klutz and when I space taking my vitamins, my tendency to bruise is higher. Plus, sterling wire has a coating on it to keep it from tarnishing, so when I'm in the groove and doing a lot of jewelry work, I end up with what's called "silver rot," with the skin of my fingertips peeling a lot.

Date: 2010-05-01 09:37 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] lilithvf1998.livejournal.com
Silver rot? Does the coating have nickel in it? I ask because, when I've worn rings that contained nickel, I've run into similar problems, especially if I let my skin get wet while wearing the ring.

No clue, really - it's some kind of anti-tarnish coating that rubs off pretty easily, considering how some of my stuff has tarnished over the years.
