sistawendy: me in a Gorey vamp costume with the back of my hand to my forehead (hand staple forehead)
I got discharged from the hospital today, and I'm back in my hotel room. Brunette Sister goes home early tomorrow.

Love: Mom, Brunette Sister, freaking them out with tales of my life, percocet, Dr. Snip
Hate: catheters, bleeding, packing in my neovagina, not-yet-operative guts

Must. Sleep.

You can see why bowel prep is so important pre-surgery now, eh?

Glad things are coming along. Discharged already!? You must be doing well. Remember to take it easy. :)

Also, enjoy the bleeding. It's the only time in your life you'll ever get to have anything resembling a period. Lucky woman.

IBS actually pulled her head out and showed up to support you? Color me pleasantly shocked. When do you come home?

Arg! I typed the wrong one because I could barely keep my eyes open. Fixed.

Well, poo. But still - having family there to support you is awesome in any case. *hugs*

Passing on advice from my terribly understated and terribly British surgeon: "remember, no Hoovering the stairs for at least a month, and make sure your husband does the chores".

That may well have been the only time in his life that my ex ever lifted a vacuum-cleaner. Believe thou me, I worked that time for all it was worth.

They let you out without operative guts?? The only folks I know where that was an issue had to "produce" to show there were no complications.

This means things are going According to Plan(tm) yes?

I do hope so. I am glad you have mom and sister there.

*shakes pompoms*

So, how do you feel mentally? Are you adjusting to the new arrangements of bits? We generally have a perception of where our body parts are, at least subconsciously. Is it weird to have no dangly bits? Are you feeling a bit like a stuffed turkey? Do things feel strange or odd? Or are you starting to feel like things are finally NOT strange or odd for the first time in your life and you are just relieved?

or is the pain from teh surgery too much to really know the answer to any of these questions?

Too soon to tell, really. I'm still dizzy pretty often, and full of gauze, rubber tubing, and recalcitrant poo. I'm doing the geezer shuffle, and yes, a stuffed turkey is a good analogy.

I was just imagining what *I* would feel like with all that packing and stuff. Bleah.

Luckily, it will not last forever.

Yay for getting through surgery without complications (except possibly for the delay of poo?)! Yay for being on the road to recovery with loving family!
