Sumptuous costume alert: "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII" on PBS. I want. I shall make, eventually.
Saturday I wanted to see
aaminahlefae and
ladylygeia dance at Medfest at 11:00, but Her Nibs wanted to go to the Redmond farmers' market. So, at 10:00, I ask the Wendling where he'd rather go, thinking he'd say "belly dancing" based on what he'd said earlier, but no. Hash of things made by me. Down to Redmond we go, with the plan of trying to get to Medfest later anyway. I try not to act impatient, apparently without success; Her Nibs is not pleased. Take kid to West Seattle. A (Seafair?) parade has started down California Ave. past Medfest. There are detours everywhere and no parking. By that time it's about 12:30 so I say 'screw it' and point the car east. The Wendling suggests Uwajimaya, which is more or less on the way. Watching crabs in tanks and picking up musubi makes everything better. I pick up orchids for Her Nibs.
Things improve markedly at 5:00 when I go to the house of
mamishka, who's gathered about twenty (!) people to see "Pirates of the Caribbean" dressed appropriately. I wear the Blue Confection and get beautifully tied up as the token captive. Piccies here. Movie is well-executed, but not exactly the smartest thing on celluloid; the gang I was in made all the difference. Mmm, drinking on a very empty stomach at Mama's Mexican with cleavagy pirate wenches. Get home ahead of schedule with no speeding ticket. ¡Viva
mamishka!
Sunday: take Wendling to Seagoth picnic, and have a nice, relaxed time there for a change by blowing off nap (for which we both pay later, but je ne regrette rien). I got to, like, talk to people while the Wendling went crazy in the wading pool. Mmm, Hebrew Nationals. I was somewhat bummed to find out that Alexia's moving to NYC for biz reasons, but I wish her well. Mental note: next time bring grub that people will actually eat, not veggie dogs. Overheard frat-boy-looking daddies at the pool making fun of the goths under the trees. (I was amphibious in black shorts & t-shirt.) You know what, daddies? You don't know what you're missing.

randomdreams. Suffer bout of questioning my own geek credentials. Go home, finish laundry, and fall asleep with blinding speed.
