1) How to write a Tcl GUI. Easy, yet useful and not as crappy-looking as I expected. The graphviz suite, which includes tcldot, is the bomb for people like me who don't want to think about where to put their circles and arrows.
2) Sound Transit has restored my dream of taking the Wendling to Seattle and back on the bus on weekdays. (Yeah, I ran out of dried fish -- Uwajimaya run.) Mmm, cushy, air-conditioned buses that go zoom every half hour. I was amazed at how many Microsoftees piled onto the 8:00 p.m. 545. Some of them looked like con-goers, some like hardcore yuppies, both with reading material to match.
