Sunday night: The DJs from KEXP's Expansions show, my favorite, had their annual MLK Day party. Yes, I got to say hi to Riz, but my favorite part was at the beginning of his set when he stopped the records and brought someone whose name I regrettably forget to sing, a capella, "Lift Every Voice And Sing". Beautiful. And then we all got our groove on.
Monday night: Got overdressed for the women's leather social at the Cuff. It turned out to be a mellow evening of socializing and meeting people, which certainly isn't bad, but hardly the meat market I was expecting and therefore prepared for. I accidentally discovered a way to repel sketchy guys like the one hanging around outside the Cuff: appear to mishear them.
My goodness, is the Cuff full of gay stereotypes. We ladies had the spacious lower level full of disco balls to ourselves, while the upper level had an impressive number of fit, muscular men for a Monday night.
