Good grief. Have I really not posted in four days? There's no way this blog will get wildly popular if I keep that up.

Thursday: Stayed up too late watching The Reader. Yeah, I rented it because naked Kate Winslet, but it's a good enough flick that I didn't stop it for the night.

Friday: dinner with m'boy, want to go to the Merc, sleep instead.

Saturday: Hot Flash with the Queefs! Fun with pretty queer poly wimmins, one of whom is one of those rare andro women whom I find attractive. She (Pronouns? Foreshadowing!) remembered me from the Wildrose a couple of months ago, but I didn't remember her. I can't imagine why. She mentioned that she was considering transitioning. I told her that would be too bad because she was so attractive as a woman. She said, basically, likewise. Well, well!

One of the hostesses was handing out plastic foam cylinders with rainbow LEDs inside. Naturally, flogging on the dance floor ensued. Ahem.

Also Saturday night, I went to the Opulent Temple benefit down in Sodo. It was a nice Burner Party - I'd expect nothing less from OT, my favorite place to dance on the playa bar none - but I wish I'd a) drunk less and b) brought friends.

Sunday: NSPP happy hour at the Octopus in Wallingford. Brief if good fun, including a woman who remembered me messaging her on OKCupid back in the spring. I just barely remembered her. Trans strikes again! I had a lovely time talking to her. She's booked with a hubby & a girlfriend - aren't they all? - but there could be fun in the future.

I'm glad you got your flirt on!

I have a thing I need to bring to your attention, though:

Reading that felt like a punch in the chest. I don't know if you just dodged this one, or if it's more common in the transmasculine direction, but "You're so pretty, why would you ruin it by transitioning" is one of those really big hot buttons.

I'm glad it went over okay with this particular person, but I wouldn't count on that reaction in general.

Now that I think about it, somebody said something like this to me shortly after I'd decided to throw the switch. I remember thinking, but not saying, 'How dare you?' I'd sooner die than give anyone the impression I was trying to talk them out of doing what they need to do with their gender expression.

If she's that transmasculine, why would she be in not just a women's space that doesn't include trans men explicitly if at all, but one packed with women looking to get their flirt on with other women? The gender complement of that doesn't happen much at all, at least not with trans women who've figured themselves out. (My only trips to Pony have been with the Siberian Siren.) Granted, I didn't think of all this at the time. I said the first thing that came to mind, and I'm lucky it worked out.

Because the word 'considering' was prominent in your description of what she said? Lots of trans men come out of the lesbian community, and that's, well, a Community. Leaving it is complicated, and leaving it cold turkey when still in the 'considering' stage is not behavior I would expect.

The bit I quoted above is reading to me as "she must not really be serious about being a (potential) trans guy if she's in this space" and that comes perilously close to questioning someone's credentials.
