I've arranged date #2 with Brown Eyes*, the lady formerly known as S, already. She seems... enthusiastic, and not shy about texting. No, the "clinginess" that so much of the queer and poly crowds have got me afraid to show doesn't bother me in other people because I'm that lesbian. Or something. In fact, I'm delighted.

Brown Eyes knows how to push my buttons, and it doesn't even look as if she's trying.

*She really does have lovely brown eyes.

Party #1: Funny Lady's husband P's birthday. A low-key affair, at least to start, with a couple of features that were awkward for me. First, everyone brought cheap, tiny presents except me; I just showed with a nice bottle of merlot. Second, for most if not all of the short time I was there, everyone there except me was in the polycule that includes Funny Lady & P. I adore Funny Lady to bits, as you've read, but I don't consider myself part of that group and I'm pretty sure they don't either. Funny Lady did, after all, dump me in a remarkably classy way a few years back. But still, good times, and I got to see Funny Lady & her metamour R looking particularly lovely.

Party #2: A while back I met M while out dancing. I finally made it to one of her parties last night. I'd considered blowing it off in favor of the above, but none other than the Tickler messaged me and asked me to show, partly because she had her friend S with her who was passing through town. This party was a blanket fort cuddle party. That's right: ropes strung between the furniture and hung with blankets & sheets, every surface covered with people cuddling, reading each other stories, etc. Light makeouts happening, no sex or kink allowed. I damn near fell asleep and went home shortly after midnight, but it wasn't bad at all. Very relaxing. S is cute, queer, and eminently cuddly, but she's non-local (for now?) and has some serious life stuff she needs to deal with.

S says people on the east coast are freaking out about the political situation way more than people in Seattle. I'm not sure whether that's good or not. On the one hand, I'm sorry they're stressing, but on the other we're more likely to see positive action from them. Maybe it's because they have a ringside seat to all the action in DC & NYC.

Another night with the Queefs* at the Wildrose.

Bah: Woke up at 0510 yesterday, and didn't get back to sleep until an hour later.

Good: Put together just the right outfit.

Good: Lots of Queefs said they'd show up to our little gathering.

Bad: Only about half of those who said they'd show up did. This was after I'd promised the (cute!) bartender beaucoup business.

Good: Among them were Funny Lady, her cute, flirty friends, the Andro Person, and one or two who were new to me.

Bad: I failed to recognize Andro Person. Again. What's wrong with me? I'm hoping it was just lack of sleep.

Good: Andro Person asked me if we were still on for drinks next week. Said I, "Hell yes!" Y'know, they seem really cool. It's funny how people who don't push my buttons especially hard physically are the ones I end up falling for the hardest.

Good: There's a certain poly event that I'm not sure I can discuss in an unlocked post (ahem) that I really want to go to. Funny Lady has the lowdown on how to get in.

Bad: I'll have to remind her, probably repeatedly, to give me said lowdown. Her ADHD is the gen-u-wine article.

Good: She knows her limitations, and doesn't mind my nagging.

Good? Funny Lady says the bad attendance was because the main NSPP had a gathering the night before. She speculates that some Queefs were hung over. I find this explanation highly plausible, and I'll work to make sure it doesn't happen again.

*Queer Female-Identified. Even if you didn't know that already, yeah, you saw that coming.

Good grief. Have I really not posted in four days? There's no way this blog will get wildly popular if I keep that up.

Thursday: Stayed up too late watching The Reader. Yeah, I rented it because naked Kate Winslet, but it's a good enough flick that I didn't stop it for the night.

Friday: dinner with m'boy, want to go to the Merc, sleep instead.

Saturday: Hot Flash with the Queefs! Fun with pretty queer poly wimmins, one of whom is one of those rare andro women whom I find attractive. She (Pronouns? Foreshadowing!) remembered me from the Wildrose a couple of months ago, but I didn't remember her. I can't imagine why. She mentioned that she was considering transitioning. I told her that would be too bad because she was so attractive as a woman. She said, basically, likewise. Well, well!

One of the hostesses was handing out plastic foam cylinders with rainbow LEDs inside. Naturally, flogging on the dance floor ensued. Ahem.

Also Saturday night, I went to the Opulent Temple benefit down in Sodo. It was a nice Burner Party - I'd expect nothing less from OT, my favorite place to dance on the playa bar none - but I wish I'd a) drunk less and b) brought friends.

Sunday: NSPP happy hour at the Octopus in Wallingford. Brief if good fun, including a woman who remembered me messaging her on OKCupid back in the spring. I just barely remembered her. Trans strikes again! I had a lovely time talking to her. She's booked with a hubby & a girlfriend - aren't they all? - but there could be fun in the future.

If you'll recall, I took over the reins of the Queefs'* monthly roundup a few days ago. Well, the only people who showed were Funny Lady and a certain lovely femme whom I met at the last roundup. Sure, I loved hanging out with them, but the whole objective there was to meet new people. That's always everybody's objective there.

Said Funny Lady, attendance was light because poly people, being heavily scheduled creatures, naturally need more lead time, and things were undeniably a bit up in the air when I took over. No problem. If I can herd my son, I can herd queers.

And Funny Lady had some exciting news for me about other (ahem) opportunities. I'll just have to keep in touch with her about those, won't I?

Oh: while I was waiting for people to show up, I got to talking with the (kinda cute, natch) barmaid at the Wildrose about its reputation for unfriendliness, which in my view is undeserved, and how it's kept some queer women away. She said what I thought she'd say: that the staff shouldn't do anything like that, at least not anymore, and if other customers give you grief, go to the staff. Right on. But what I didn't know is that the 'Rose changed hands a few years ago, and that the previous owner wasn't quite as enlightened as the current one(s?). That would explain a lot.

*Queer Female-Identified, which inevitably got acronymized to "queefs".

I've seen several long-dormant LiveJournal users come back because they've got something to say. Facebook is culturally unfit for that sort of thing, and Twitter is technologically awkward for anything that doesn't work well in small chunks.

Hell to the yes! Moar posts, plz. Gosh, I guess that means I better write something myself.

Even though I consider myself a relative n00b at poly, I find myself the organizatrix of a regular gathering of queer poly women because no one else stepped forward. This is the one I went to last month that was so much fun, so I wasn't about to stand idly by and let it die. It isn't quite public, so if you want deets you need to contact me privately.

I have made arrangements to circumflatulate heavily on my birthday, and have dinner with Funny Lady. No, we're not dating again, but we both love Korean food and she's a lot of fun to have on the other side of a table.
