New pic. C'est moi, non?

Friday: lost it with the Wendling right after work. Let's just say I had to apologize to him. Yeah, insomnia, work, and the kid's tweakiness got to me, but you can't let that happen.

Despite being low on sleep, I Had To Get Out Of The House Right Then. Said greetz to [livejournal.com profile] erotocism at her place, then haunted my usual haunts and saw people that I wish I got to see more often, including the Fashion Brain Trust and [livejournal.com profile] sirriamnis. [livejournal.com profile] aaminahlefae's beau is right: she does torture people in a nice way. Wore cruel shoes because I felt like it, but they're a good way to remind oneself to go home on time.

Saturday: Raucous Caucus! I went to my district caucus and was heartened by the high turnout. Some precints went out into the halls to argue over how to allocate delegates. Curiously, only three people showed up from my precinct so we're all delegates to the next (state) caucus in May. I'm an accidental politico. Or is that politica?

(Edited to add more stuff 'cuz Her Nibs wanted the 'pooter last night.)

Hee! Nifty new icon.

So what exactly does that mean you have to *do* in May?

Basically, we decide who our state's delegates go for. I've never been to a state caucus before, but to draw an analogy from the district level, what'll probably happen is this: Each legislative district will get a certain number of votes (N) that they get to cast at the state level, and the rules will say that any candidate who gets the support of less than X% of the delegates from that distict, that candidate doesn't get any votes from that district. This is where all the horse trading comes in. Candidates sometimes make deals whereby they'll give each other their under-X% support. Kucinich & Dean did that to Dean's advantage. At the district caucuses X=15. I don't know whether or not once the districts decide who their votes go for, it's winner-take-all for the whole state.
