M'boy got up at the same time - 0700 - as I do, surprisingly enough, to go to his campaign volunteer gig out in Kirkland. Yeah, he volunteers for his former state rep, for the district he just moved out of. When asked if he'd like to go somewhere more convenient, he points out that all the Democratic state reps in Seattle have safe(r?) seats. 'I'm proud of my son,' I thought...
...At least until this morning, when I found out he doesn't have any more hours of paying work scheduled in Seattle, but does in Kirkland. He has no idea whether the store in Columbia City is happy with him and is willing to schedule him for more hours. Face palm! I loudly pointed out to him that when he goes back to school, he's going to need the time for studying that he's currently spending commuting because his ADD is, to say the least, unhelpful in regards to time management. Aspie inertia for the loss.
Oh by the way, he's borrowed my car to go see Dr. Kidshrink here in Seattle. Here's hoping he a) takes his meds long enough before he leaves because even he's noticed he's a better driver with them in his system, b) he parks the damn thing legally and without damaging anything, and c) maybe learns something from Dr. Kidshrink. I have to admit that his big city parking skills, at least near my place, are improving.
So, the punk? May - just may - be becoming less of a punk. And it's about time: he is nineteen (19) years old. The mind reels. How did he get that old?
